Osaka Expo 2025 marks 1,000 days until its opening with events across Japan
Expo 2025 marked 1,000 days until its opening on July 18 in events across Japan.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida attended a “1,000 Days to Go!” event in Tokyo. “Ushering in a new era of cutting-edge technologies, I would like to make (the Osaka Expo) an opportunity to solve social issues,” he said.
Preparations for the international exposition in Osaka are picking up momentum. Already, 130 countries and regions have confirmed their participation.
Expo 2025 also has an official mascot. Its name was announced as “Myaku-Myaku” at the Tokyo event, while a countdown ceremony was held the same day in Osaka. The name was chosen from over 33,000 submitted entries.
In Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, a “flying car” took off on a flight. Organizers plan to use the flying car during the expo. It can carry two people.
The Osaka Expo will be held from April 13 until Oct. 13. (Kyodo)
