THE GOOD Vs. THE PLEASANT
Man takes a long time and makes a series of experiments to discover that the pleasant is seldom good.
Beings have evolved to the human level attracted by the pleasant. Now the pleasant has to give place to the good. The pleasant confines man to the sense-plane. It is by eschewing the pleasant that man grows in the good which is ethical eminence.
The good and the pleasant are not one and the same. The former leads to beatitude and the latter enmeshes man in the world.
