DHARMA II
It is by the performance of dharma that the fulfilment of life takes place.
The dharma of the student is to increase his knowledge. The dharma of the teacher is to impart knowledge. The dharma of the workman is to toil to the best of his ability. The dharma of man is to exert his best for common good.
The dharma of one man is as sacred as that of another.

Nous ne pouvons rien aimer que par rapport à nous, et nous ne faisons que suivre notre goût et notre plaisir quand nous préférons nos amis à nous-mêmes; c'est néanmoins par cette préférence seule que l'amitié peut être vraie et parfaite.

La réconciliation avec nos ennemis n'est qu'un désir de rendre notre condition meilleure, une lassitude de la guerre, et une crainte de quelque mauvais événement.

81.—We can love nothing but what agrees with us, and we can only follow our taste or our pleasure when we prefer our friends to ourselves; nevertheless it is only by that preference that friendship can be true and perfect.
